Bureau of Malt Sippers Deconstruct Old Hebridean

April 26, 2010 – 12:43 pm by Jane

The Bureau of Malt Sippers (BUMS) are a group of whisky lovers who meet regularly to taste and share their passion for the drams of Scotland.

Their journey is about discovery, the pleasures of the palate and camaraderie over rich, mysterious drams.

Bureau of Malt Sippers

Their recent 18th tasting was of Sheep Dip Old Hebridean  and aimed to replicate it’s component parts: 19-year-old Dalmore, 21-year-old Fettercairn and 25-year-old Ardbeg but using using new bottlings  as stand-in due to lack of availability.

They tasted Dalmore 15 and Ardbeg Corryvreckan as well as Sheep Dip Old Hebridean.

The Sheep Dip Old Hebridean ,  was very well received and stimulated much discussion.

We would  like to thank Bill, Nancy, Besim, Mary, Dan, John,  Ashwin and Amal for their investigations and recommending Sheep Dip Old Hebridean as their daily dram.

ps Do they know what a BUM is in Scots….hmm I think not

  1. Glad to see we rated a mention on your site. Thanks again for all your help at getting our tasting notes together and yes we do know what a BUM is in the UK, but that’s part of the fun of being a BUM, not taking ourselves too seriously.Cheers, Mark
